Is there a crown symbol on the keyboard?

No standard keyboard has a crown key. On phones, use the 👑 emoji. On a computer, copy ♛ or ♚ from this page, or search “crown” in the Windows emoji panel (Win + .) or the Mac Character Viewer (Control + Command + Space).

Why do the “white” chess pieces look outlined?

In Unicode, “white” and “black” describe the outline and filled versions of each piece, matching how chess diagrams are printed. ♔ is the white (outline) king and ♚ is the black (filled) king, regardless of your text color.

Can I use crown symbols in game names?

Many games and apps accept these characters in nicknames, but some limit names to letters and numbers. If a symbol is rejected or shows as a box, try a different crown such as ♛ or ♔, or check the game’s naming rules.

Crown Symbols for Names and Bios

Unicode doesn’t have a plain-text crown character, so the chess king and queen pieces — ♔ ♕ ♚ ♛ — are the go-to crown symbols. ♛ (black queen) and ♚ (black king) look most like crowns at small sizes, which is why you see them in gamer tags, Discord names and “king” or “queen” Instagram bios like ♛ Queen ♛. If you want a colorful crown, use the 👑 emoji instead.

For a fully decorated nickname, combine a crown with one of the frames in our Fancy Text Generator.

Chess Piece Symbols

Unicode includes all twelve standard chess pieces: the white ♔ king, ♕ queen, ♖ rook, ♗ bishop, ♘ knight and ♙ pawn, and their black counterparts ♚ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟. Chess players use them for figurine notation like ♘f3 or ♕xd7 and to share puzzles or game recaps in plain text. ♟ also has an emoji form, so it may appear in color on some phones.
