What is an invisible character?

An invisible character is a real Unicode character that draws nothing on screen. Some, like the Hangul Filler (U+3164) and the Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800), take up space like a normal letter; others, like the Zero Width Space (U+200B), have no width at all. Either way, a text field sees them as actual content, not as empty whitespace.

That is the trick behind blank usernames and empty messages: most apps strip ordinary spaces from a name or refuse to send a message made only of spaces, but they accept these characters because, technically, you typed something.

Blank name in Free Fire, PUBG, Fortnite and other games

Tap “Copy Invisible Character” above, open your game’s rename screen, paste it into the name field and confirm. If the game says the name is invalid or already taken, go back and try a different character from the table — Hangul Filler is accepted most often, with the braille blank and the other fillers as backups — or combine an invisible character with a short name or symbol.

Keep in mind that renaming may cost in-game currency, names still have to be unique, and games can change which characters they accept in any update.

Empty messages and spacing on WhatsApp, Discord, Instagram and TikTok

WhatsApp and Discord won’t send a message that is only spaces, but a message containing a braille blank or Hangul Filler usually goes through and appears empty. On Instagram, paste an invisible character on its own line to keep blank lines in a caption or bio that would otherwise be collapsed.

Zero-width characters are handy in a different way: slip one into a word to stop it being auto-linked, split a hashtag, or stop an @mention from pinging someone, all without changing how the text looks.

Which invisible character should I use?

For a blank name, start with Hangul Filler. For a blank message or visible spacing that an app would normally trim, use the Braille Pattern Blank. For an invisible marker that takes up no room, use the Zero Width Space.

If a platform strips one character, try another — each app filters differently. The test box above confirms exactly which invisible characters are in your clipboard, so you never have to guess whether the copy worked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is using an invisible character safe? Can I get banned?

The character itself is harmless — it is plain Unicode text, not a hack or an app. Whether a blank name is allowed depends on each game’s or platform’s rules; a few explicitly forbid empty or misleading names, so check the terms if you are unsure, and never use it to impersonate someone else.

Why does the invisible character disappear when I paste it?

Some apps and games remove or replace characters they don’t support, and a few keyboards trim invisible characters when you paste. Try a different character from the table — the Hangul Filler, braille blank and zero width space are each handled differently by different apps.

How do I know the copy actually worked?

Paste into the “Test it” box on this page. It counts every invisible character it finds and tells you which ones they are. If it finds none, copy again or choose another character.

How do I send a blank message on WhatsApp?

Copy the Braille Pattern Blank or Hangul Filler, paste it into the message field and tap send. The message arrives looking empty. Plain spaces don’t work because WhatsApp trims them.

What is the difference between a zero width space and a Hangul Filler?

A zero width space has no width — the text looks unchanged, which is useful for breaking links or hashtags. The Hangul Filler is about as wide as a regular letter, so it works as a visible blank in a name or message.
